Jeremy Pena Expected To Return Sunday
2 years agoHouston Astros rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena (thumb) is expected to be activated from the injured list on Sunday. It remains to be seen if Pena will be back in the lineup right away in the series finale against the New York Yankees. The impressive 24-year-old injured his left thumb diving for a ball two weeks ago, but he'll return on Sunday. He's in the running right now for American League Rookie of the Year while hitting .277/.333/.471 with an .805 OPS, nine home runs, 27 RBI, 27 runs scored and six stolen bases in 211 plate appearances over 54 games. Mauricio Dubon and Aledmys Diaz have been sharing playing time at shortstop recently with Pena out, but Pena will return to an everyday role at the 6 once he's back.
