Cowboys, Dalton Schultz Not Close To Extension
2 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys and tight end Dalton Schultz aren't close to working out a long-term contract extension. Current market conditions could compel the Cowboys to wait it out. Schultz will play the 2022 season on a $10.93 million franchise tag if an extension isn't worked out by July 15, and he could face the possibility of being tagged again next year for $13.12 million. Last year, quarterback Dak Prescott had a 124.1 passer rating on throws that targeted Schultz, completing 76 of 97 attempts (78.4%) for 797 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception. The 25-year-old continues to improve and had 78 receptions for 808 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 games last year for the Cowboys. With receiver Amari Cooper now gone and Michael Gallup (knee) a question mark for the start of the season, Schultz becomes an even bigger part of Dallas' offense.
