Jeremy Pena Activated From Injured List
2 years agoAs expected, the Houston Astros activated rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena (thumb) from the injured list and optioned outfielder Chas McCormick to Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move. Fantasy managers will want to get Pena back into their lineups immediately, as he's back at shortstop and hitting sixth on Sunday against New York Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes. The 24-year-old has been out since June 13 with left thumb discomfort. He didn't require a minor league rehab assignment, but he'll be returning to a .277/.333/.471 slash line with an .805 OPS, nine home runs, 27 RBI, 27 runs scored and six stolen bases in his first 54 major league games. Pena is in the running for American League Rookie of the Year honors to this point in the season.
