Chris Sale Set For Next Rehab Start
2 years agoBoston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale (ribs) is scheduled for a three-inning minor league rehab start on Thursday for Double-A Portland. He'll throw a bullpen session in Boston on Monday before joining Portland. Sale allowed three hits while striking out six over 2 2/3 innings while throwing 36 pitches in the Florida Complex League on June 25. Thursday will be the 33-year-old's third rehab appearance as he slowly builds back up for his 2022 season debut, which could come right around the All-Star break. While there was some initial confusion as to whether Sale would make his return as a reliever or starter, the Red Sox have since made it clear that Sale won't come out of the bullpen to ease him back in. The veteran southpaw has become an injury liability, but he has ace upside for fantasy managers when healthy.
