Mariners Acquire Carlos Santana From Royals
2 years agoThe Seattle Mariners have acquired first baseman and designated hitter Carlos Santana from the Kansas City Royals, the team announced on Monday. Santana was hitting .216 with a .349 on-base percentage and four home runs in 212 plate appearances for Kansas City this season. The 36-year-old will give Seattle another option at first base and designated hitter. The Mariners have had a slightly more productive lineup than the Royals so Santana should see a slight uptick in RBI opportunities. Still, he's likely only an option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues where on-base percentage is part of the scoring. Seattle also acquired cash considerations with Santana and sent reliever Wyatt Mills and pitching prospect William Fleming to Kansas City in return.
