2 years agoOakland Athletics right-handed pitching prospect Adrian Martinez will be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to make his second major league start against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, according to manager Mark Kotsay. In his first start against the Detroit Tigers during a May 10 doubleheader, Martinez tossed 5 1/3 scoreless frames while walking none and striking out three. The 25-year-old is the team's No. 21 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Martinez has a weak 5.63 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 13 starts for Las Vegas over 64 innings, but he's struck out 73 hitters and walked 23 in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. His fastball-changeup combination is his bread and butter. It remains to be seen if Martinez will stick around longer this time around, but he won't be a great streaming option despite his solid MLB debut a month ago.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
