Paul DeJong Exits Early After Hit By Pitch
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong (hand) exited Wednesday's game with Triple-A Memphis after being hit by a pitch on the hand. The Cardinals optioned DeJong to Triple-A Memphis on May 10. The 28-year-old is slashing .219/.264/.475 with 11 home runs and 36 RBI in 39 games. The severity of DeJong's hand injury is unknown at this time, and he is considered day-to-day. He was hitting just .130 with a .417 OPS over 77 at-bats for the Cardinals this season before being demoted. Edmundo Sosa, Tommy Edman, and Brendan Donovan continue to handle shortstop duties while Dejong is in the minors.
