2 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer (oblique) allowed two earned runs on four hits while walking one and striking out eight in 4 2/3 innings pitched in his second minor league rehab start for Double-A Binghamton on Wednesday. Most importantly, Scherzer was stretched out to 80 pitches. The 37-year-old right-hander is extremely close to returning to the Mets' starting rotation, but we'll see exactly what comes next in the coming days. He's expected to be activated from the injured list sometime next week to make his next start, so fantasy managers should be chomping at the bit to get him back into their lineups. Before his injury, the three-time Cy Young winner was 5-1 with a 2.54 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 59 strikeouts and 11 walks in 49 2/3 innings over eight starts in his first year in Queens.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
