2 years agoHouston Astros manager Dusty Baker hinted that the team could go to a six-man starting rotation when right-hander Jake Odorizzi (leg) returns from the injured list. Odorizzi has been out since mid-May with sprains in his foot and ankle, and Cristian Javier has been excellent for Houston while taking Odorizzi's rotation spot. Odorizzi will return to a 3-2 record, 3.13 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 21 strikeouts in 31 2/3 innings over seven starts when he's activated. The 32-year-old struck out six in five scoreless innings in his second minor league rehab start for Double-A Corpus Christi on Wednesday, so he could make his return to Houston's rotation early next week against the Kansas City Royals. Odorizzi's 16.4% strikeout rate leaves a lot to be desired, but he continues to induce a lot of weak contact.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
