Drew Smyly To Make Rehab Start On Monday
2 years agoChicago Cubs left-hander Drew Smyly (oblique) will make a minor league rehab start for High-A South Bend on Monday. Smyly will make his first rehab start after throwing a successful bullpen session on Friday. He hasn't pitched for the Cubs since suffering an oblique strain on May 30, so he'll almost certainly need several rehab outings in order to build his arm back up for a starting role. The 33-year-old southpaw made nine starts for Chicago before landing on the injured list, going 2-5 with a 3.80 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, 34 strikeouts and 10 walks in 42 2/3 frames.
