2 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas (shoulder) will undergo an MRI exam on Tuesday after departing his start on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners after just one inning due to tightness that he experienced in the back of his right shoulder. Skipper Mark Kotsay remains optimistic about Montas' outlook. "He's doing great," Kotsay said. "He doesn't feel like this is a big issue, so that's a positive. We're going to wait until we get these [MRI] results back to give us a better idea of what direction we're going to go in terms of a timeline with him." The 29-year-old right-hander is just 3-9 this year on a bad A's team, but he has a nice 3.26 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 100 strikeouts in 96 2/3 innings over 17 starts, and he could become even more valuable in fantasy if he's dealt to a contender before the trade deadline this summer.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
