Sandy Alcantara Goes Eight Innings Once Again In Win
2 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara is in a league of his own this season, and he showed it once again on Tuesday, as he went eight scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Angels to earn his ninth win of the season. He gave up just two hits and no walks while striking out 10 batters, a performance which lowered his ERA and WHIP to 1.82 and 0.91. Alcantara has thrown at least seven innings in 11 consecutive starts, leaving him far and away in the league lead for innings pitched with 123 1/3. At some point, the Marlins may have to consider slowing him down to limit his workload, but such considerations appear to be just about the only way anyone is going to stop him right now.
