Paolo Espino Roughed Up By Phillies
2 years agoWashington Nationals right-hander Paolo Espino was roughed up by the Philadelphia Phillies in the team's 11-0 blowout loss on Tuesday. Espino was touched up for four earned runs on six hits (two home runs allowed) while walking one and striking out three in just 3 2/3 innings of work. The 35-year-old veteran hurler took his second loss of the season and raised his ERA to 3.33 in the process in his fifth start of the season. He's allowed six home runs in his five starts since joining the starting rotation in mid-June, and he has a rough 4.91 ERA and 1.41 WHIP while walking seven and striking out 17 in 22 innings over his five starts. Espino has been much better in relief and should be avoided for now as a fantasy streamer.
