2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs will place starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain after he left his start early on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. It will give him through the All-Star break to recover and get back to 100%. It remains to be seen if Hendricks will be ready for the start of the second half of the season on July 22, but it doesn't sound like an overly serious injury, although he did miss some time in June due to shoulder fatigue. Marcus Stroman (shoulder) and/or Drew Smyly (oblique) could be options to replace Hendricks in the rotation when they return from their respective injuries. Hendricks has been a disappointment this year with a 4.80 ERA and 1.29 WHIP while striking out just 18.5% of the batters he's faced in 84 1/3 innings over 16 starts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
