2 years agoThe Carolina Panthers are acquiring quarterback Baker Mayfield from the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday in exchange for a 2024 conditional fifth-round draft pick, according to sources. The deal is pending a physical, and all parties split the financials to make the deal happen. The long-awaited trade has finally happened. Mayfield will join a QB room in Carolina that includes Sam Darnold and rookie Matt Corral, and he should be the clear favorite to start for the Panthers under center in Week 1 against, ironically, the Browns. Mayfield played injured for most of the 2021 campaign and didn't have much to work with in the passing game in a run-first offense, so he should be better this year on a new team, although fantasy managers probably shouldn't consider him as anything more than a QB2.
