Brandon Lowe To Start Rehab Assignment Thursday
2 years agoTampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that second baseman Brandon Lowe (back) will start a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on Thursday, and the expectation is that he'll return to the majors after the All-Star break. Lowe was moved to the 60-day injured list on Tuesday, but it won't affect his timetable for a return after he completes his rehab assignment. The 28-year-old hasn't played for the Rays since May 15 and he has struggled at the plate when healthy, slashing .212/.293/.415 with five home runs, 12 RBI, 20 runs scored and one stolen base in 133 plate appearances over 32 games played. Vidal Brujan, Taylor Walls and Isaac Paredes have all seen action at the keystone with Lowe sidelined.
