2 years agoThe Carolina Panthers drafted quarterback Matt Corral in the third round out of Ole Miss this year with plans to develop him slowly, and bringing Baker Mayfield in decreases Corral's chances of seeing the field in his rookie year in 2022. Corral will likely be the third quarterback between Mayfield and Sam Darnold. The Panthers called Corral to inform him of the trade and ensured him that he's still the future of the position, according to a league source. He'll have a year to learn under Mayfield and Darnold, and the Panthers are still excited about his future. It's probably for the best, as offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo is installing a complex system, one that Corral admitted is challenging to learn.
