Mike Soroka Hit In Knee While Rehabbing
2 years agoAtlanta Braves right-hander Mike Soroka (Achilles, knee) was hit in the knee by a comebacker when he pitched a few days ago, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Although it's just a bruise and not considered a long-term issue, the Braves don't yet have a start date for his rehab assignment. Manager Brian Snitker said that Soroka threw a live batting practice session over the weekend, and the team has thought all along that he would be able to return in the second half of this season. He's never pitched out of the bullpen in his career, and he's rehabbing as a starter, but the Braves might not have an obvious player to pull from their starting rotation when Soroka is ready to return. The 24-year-old has a 2.86 career ERA in 37 starts and was an All-Star in 2019, but he's attempting to return from his second Achilles tear and is hoping to throw 60 innings before the end of the regular season.
