Mike Gesicki Expected To Play Under Franchise Tag
2 years agoThe Miami Dolphins and franchise-tagged tight end Mike Gesicki are not expected to reach an agreement on a long-term contract extension before Friday's deadline for franchise players to sign, according to sources. If no deal is reached before Friday, he'll play the 2022 season on his $10.9 million tag and become a free agent next March. Gesicki posted career-highs in receptions (73), targets (112) and receiving yards (780) while scoring two touchdowns in 17 regular season games for Miami in his fourth NFL season in 2021. The 26-year-old has been a low-end TE1 in fantasy over the last several seasons, and he'll be on the TE1/2 borderline heading into 2022 fantasy drafts with an extra mouth to feed in receiver Tyreek Hill this year.
