Darnell Mooney Puts On Some Weight
2 years agoConditioning has been an emphasis for Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney this offseason, and he has bulked up to 183 pounds. He played his first two seasons in the low 170s. In 2021, Mooney played 986 offensive snaps, more than all but five receivers in the NFL, and he's now the focal point of the Bears offense. The 24-year-old was the fifth-fastest player at the 2020 NFL Combine, but his size always raised concerns. He set a Bears rookie record with 61 catches in his rookie year, and he followed that up with an 81-1,055-4 line in 17 games in 2021. Despite his small size, Mooney has missed just one game due to injury in 15 years playing football. Mooney will be the team's unquestioned WR1 and will move inside and outside. But he'll receive plenty of attention from opposing defenses and is working with an unproven QB in Justin Fields, putting him on the WR2/3 borderline in fantasy.
