Nick Pivetta Surrenders Seven Runs In Saturday's Loss
2 years agoBoston Red Sox pitcher Nick Pivetta (8-7) allowed seven runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four over 4 1/3 innings in Saturday's 14-1 loss to the New York Yankees. He picked up his seventh loss of the season. The right-hander struggled right out of the gate, yielding four runs in the first frame, including a three-run shot to Matt Carpenter. He kept the Yankees off the scoreboard the next three innings until New York tacked another three runs in the fifth frame. The 29-year-old has struggled mightily over his last three starts, allowing 20 earned runs while posting a 13.50 ERA across 13 1/3 innings during that stretch. Pivetta enters the All-Star break with a 4.50 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 104 strikeouts across 108 innings in 2022.
