2 years agoThe Texas Rangers signed right-hander Kumar Rocker, who they took at No. 3 overall in the first round of Sunday's MLB draft, to a $5.2 million deal on Monday. It's almost half a million dollars more than last year's slot at No. 10 when he was selected by the New York Mets, who chose not to sign him because of medical issues related to his right elbow. The 22-year-old from Vanderbilt is expected to move quickly through the Rangers farm system, and he reunites with former Vanderbilt rotation-mate Jack Leiter. Rocker had arthroscopic surgery on his elbow last September, but he's healthy now and could reach the majors in a few seasons if everything goes as planned.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
