2 years agoLos Angeles Angels right-hander Shohei Ohtani, who will be hitting leadoff for the American League as the designated hitter in Tuesday's All-Star game at Dodger Stadium, said he doesn't plan to pitch in the game. After winning AL MVP last year while being dominant on the mound and with the bat, the 28-year-old Japanese star has continued to dazzle as a two-way player, but we won't be seeing him throw high-90s cheddar on the mound in the Midsummer Classic. He was dominant in his last start before the break, giving up just one run with 12 strikeouts in six innings in a win over the Houston Astros. Ohtani has been outstanding as a pitcher again in 2022, going 9-4 with a 2.38 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 123 strikeouts and 22 walks in 87 innings over 15 starts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
