Ross Dwelley Sliding Down The Depth Chart
2 years agoAt the start of last season, San Francisco 49ers tight end Ross Dwelley was the clear No. 2 behind George Kittle, but by the end of the year, Charlie Woerner had clearly supplanted Dwelley. Woerner played 47 offensive snaps in three playoff games to Dwelley's zero, and he also became a stalwart on special teams. With that said, it's a safe bet that Woerner will enter 2022 as the primary backup to Kittle. Dwelley's versatility has been valuable in recent years, but others like Tanner Hudson and Jordan Matthews might be better options in the passing game as the No. 3. Veterans Troy Fumagalli and Tyler Kroft are bigger and might be better blockers.
