Paul DeJong Named International League Player Of The Week
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong was named the International League Player of the Week on Tuesday. He led all International League hitters with three home runs, 11 RBI, and seven runs scored while posting a 1.273 OPS across six games. The Cardinals optioned DeJong to Triple-A Memphis on May 10. Since being demoted, the 28-year-old is slashing .236/.300/.511 with 14 homers, 47 RBI, 33 runs, and a stolen base in 46 games with Triple-A Memphis. He could be promoted later this summer if the Cardinals need infield depth. DeJong is a name for fantasy managers to keep an eye on in deep-league formats when he eventually returns to the big leagues. Edmundo Sosa, Tommy Edman, and Brendan Donovan continue to handle shortstop duties while DeJong is in the minors.
