Nationals Fielding Preliminary Offers For Juan Soto
2 years agoThe Washington Nationals have started fielding preliminary offers for superstar outfielder Juan Soto, with seven teams already weighing in, including the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees and New York Mets. The trade deadline is approaching quickly on Aug. 2, but Washington will wait unless they get the right deal. The Nats want multiple top-level prospects and major-league ready players in return for the 2022 Home Run Derby champion, and they'd also like to offload left-hander Patrick Corbin's bloated contract. A megadeal of this proportion doesn't come along very often, and it'll be difficult to work out. Soto has hit just .250 heading into the second half, but he also has 20 home runs, 43 RBI, five stolen bases, a .405 on-base percentage and a league-leading 79 walks in 91 games.
