Elijah Mitchell To Be Part Of Committee Approach?
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan appears determined to deploy more of a running-back-by-committee approach in 2022, according to NBC Sports' Matt Maiocco. Mitchell put together a strong performance in his rookie season when Raheem Mostert was lost for the season in Week 1, rushing for 963 yards and five touchdowns. But Mitchell missed six games due to injuries, and there are serious concerns about his durability, which is why the Niners drafted Tyrion Davis-Price in the third round. Mitchell had a "clean-up" procedure on his knee in the offseason, and San Fran also has 2021 third-rounder Trey Sermon in the fold. Davis-Price has the talent to make an immediate contribution in his rookie season, and there's also Jeff Wilson Jr., who could be the No. 2 to open the year. Mitchell should be your first target from this backfield as a low-end RB2, but this could be a frustrating situation from a fantasy perspective.
