2 years agoThe Washington Nationals agreed to a deal with free-agent outfielder David Dahl on Friday. The addition of Dahl at this time is interesting after the team recently announced that superstar outfielder Juan Soto is available ahead of the Aug. 2 trade deadline after he declined a 15-year, $440 million contract extension. Dahl hasn't played in a major league game yet this year after hitting just .210/.247/.322 with four home runs, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored and two stolen bases in 63 games for the Texas Rangers in 2021. If Soto is dealt in a blockbuster trade in the next few weeks, Dahl could join Washington's major league roster, but he wouldn't be guaranteed anything more than a platoon role against right-handed pitchers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
