Lance McCullers Jr. Allows One Run In Rehab Outing
2 years agoHouston Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. (forearm) allowed an earned run on three hits while striking out three, walking none and hitting one batter in two innings of work in his first minor league rehab outing with Double-A Corpus Christi on Friday. He was able to throw 28 of his 40 pitches for strikes. It was McCullers' first game action since the playoffs last year. The 28-year-old will certainly need at least several more rehab outings before the Astros are comfortable activating him for his 2022 season debut in their starting rotation. It remains to be seen how effective he'll be immediately upon his return after such a long layoff, but he needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats after going 13-5 in 2021 with a 3.16 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP and 185 strikeouts in 162 1/3 innings over 28 regular season starts.
