Irv Smith Jr. Expected To Be Full-Go
2 years agoMinnesota Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. (knee) is expected to be full-go for the start of training camp, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell. "We're expecting him to be full [speed] to start," O'Connell said on Tuesday. Smith missed all of last season due to his knee injury but is expected to be the team's starting tight end in 2022 with Tyler Conklin now in New York with the Jets. The 23-year-old had meniscus surgery last September, but he was taking first-team repetitions at minicamp last month. In an offense that should pass plenty under first-year head coach O'Connell, Smith could have a nice bounce-back season in Minnesota's offense, making him a solid upside target as a TE2 this year.
