Manny Machado At DH Against Tigers
2 years agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (ankle) is serving as the designated hitter and batting third on Wednesday against Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal. Skipper Bob Melvin said that Machado tweaked his ankle in the 10th inning of the 6-4 win over Detroit on Tuesday, but it's a good sign that he's at least back in the starting lineup the next day in a matinee contest. The Padres also have an off day on Thursday, so the 30-year-old All-Star should be fine for the weekend series against the Minnesota Twins. Although Machado is hitting just .215 (17-for-79) with four home runs and eight RBI in 21 games in the month of July, he should be in all fantasy lineups in single-year formats.
