Lamar Jackson Practicing Despite Contract Situation
2 years agoBaltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson practiced with the team on Wednesday at training camp, and teammates said there was no indication that his contract was on his mind. Jackson is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and his base salary of $23 million is guaranteed in 2022, but he has no guarantees beyond this year. An injury at practice could reduce his future earning potential. If Jackson plays out this year on his rookie deal, he'd be a free agent next March, but the Ravens would presumably use the franchise tag on him. His presence on the field this week indicates he's willing to play this year without a new deal. Contract issues aside, the 25-year-old should be considered a top-five fantasy QB despite disappointing in 2021 due to an injury late in the year.
