George Springer Not Starting Friday
2 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (elbow) is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Detroit Tigers. Springer left the game early on Thursday with right elbow discomfort, but he also said he felt fine, insinuating that his injury isn't all that serious. It sounds like the Blue Jays are just giving him an extra rest, so we should see Springer again at some point this weekend. Springer will be available off the bench on Friday. Raimel Tapia is starting in center field and batting seventh on Friday against Tigers right-hander Bryan Garcia. Tapia doesn't have a whole lot of power, but he's been swinging a hot bat in 2022 and has gone 19-for-47 (.404) with two home runs, 14 RBI, a steal and seven runs scored in 15 games in July.
