Mike Gesicki Blocking More In Training Camp
2 years agoMiami Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki hasn't seen many targets in 11-on-11 work through four training camp practices so far. After seeing more snaps either out wide or in the slot than in a traditional tight end spot in 2021, Gesicki said he was in line on Saturday. The wide-zone scheme is a key component of new head coach Mike McDaniel's offense, so Gesicki will have to prove he's a capable run-blocker, something he hasn't been asked to do much in his four NFL seasons. The 26-year-old will surely have his opportunities to catch passes this year, but receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are going to soak up a ton of targets in the passing attack. Gesicki should be considered a low-end TE1/high-end TE2 heading into his fifth season.
