2 years agoThe Oakland Athletics acquired left-hander Ken Waldichuk, right-hander Luis Medina, left-hander JP Sears and second baseman Cooper Bowman from the New York Yankees on Monday in exchange for starting pitcher Frankie Montas and reliever Lou Trivino, according to a source. It's a nice prospect haul for the A's, as MLB Pipeline had Waldichuk ranked as the Yankees' No. 5 prospect, with Medina at No. 10, Sears at No. 20 and Bowman at No. 21. Waldichuk stands at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds and has a 3.59 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 70 strikeouts in 47 2/3 innings over 11 starts at Triple-A in 2022. Medina has elite raw stuff on the mound, but his command has been lacking, and he's likely to surface as a reliever in the big leagues. Sears is more of a control artist and has a 2.05 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 15 K's in 22 innings in the majors this year. Bowman is best known for his speed.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
