Rays Acquire Jose Siri In Three-Team Deal
2 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays acquired outfielder Jose Siri from the Houston Astros on Monday in a three-team deal that also involved the Baltimore Orioles sending first baseman/outfielder Trey Mancini and right-hander Jayden Murray to the Astros for right-handers Seth Johnson and Chayce McDermott, according to sources. Siri was great for the Astros in 21 games in his rookie season in 2021, hitting .304/.347/.609 with a .956 OPS, four home runs, nine RBI, 10 runs scored and three stolen bases. However, he's really struggled in 48 games for Houston in 2022, slashing just .178/.238/.304 with three homers, 10 RBI, 18 runs scored and six stolen bases in 147 plate appearances. Tampa is expected to designate outfielder Brett Phillips for assignment to make room for Siri on the active roster.
