Jon Gray Likely To Miss A Start
2 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Jon Gray (side) left his start early on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles due to discomfort in his left side. He departed after recording just one out in the second inning after throwing 48 pitches. Gray will get further testing on Tuesday, but manager Chris Woodward said the best-case scenario feels like Gray would miss just one start with what the team later called "left side discomfort." Prior to his start on Monday, the 30-year-old right-hander had a 2.65 ERA in 11 starts since June 1. If the Rangers don't acquire a starter at Tuesday's trade deadline, Taylor Hearn will likely be the immediate option for the starting rotation. Hearn opened the year in the rotation but was moved to the bullpen in June and then sent to Triple-A Round Rock. He has a 6.25 ERA as a starter and 1.59 ERA as a reliever in 2022.
