2 years agoThe Miami Marlins are acquiring infield prospect Jordan Groshans from the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday in exchange for right-handed relievers Anthony Bass and Zach Pop and an unnamed smaller piece. Groshans is a top-100 prospect and was ranked as the Blue Jays' No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, before the trade. The 22-year-old is currently a shortstop, but he could make the move to the hot corner eventually. In 67 games for Triple-A Buffalo this year, he hit .250/.348/.296 with one home run, 24 RBI, 30 runs scored and two stolen bases in 279 plate appearances. Groshans was once believed to have plus potential power, but that hasn't been the case in recent seasons, as he's gone deep just eight times in the last two seasons.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
