Carl Lawson Emerging For The Jets
2 years agoNew York Jets defensive end Carl Lawson was given $45 million last year to be a dominant pass-rusher, but instead he missed the entire season due to injuries. However, he appears to be emerging after six training camp practices this summer. The team's deep defensive end group has looked good so far in training camp, but none more than Lawson. "He's a freak. I'm excited for him. He does all the right things," quarterback Zach Wilson said. "He hangs out in the backfield with us a little too much." The 27-year-old will start on the defensive line this year for Gang Green, but he's unlikely to be a force in IDP leagues. Lawson had 8.5 sacks for the Cincinnati Bengals in his rookie season in 2017, but he posted just 11.5 sacks combined the following three seasons, and he's never had more than 18 solo tackles in a single season.
