Phillies Reinstate Jean Segura, Release Didi Gregorius
2 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies reinstated second baseman Jean Segura (finger) from the 60-day injured list. In corresponding moves, the team activated right-hander Kyle Gibson from the bereavement list and released shortstop Didi Gregorius. Segura is back at the keystone and is hitting seventh on Thursday against Washington Nationals right-hander Paolo Espino, so fantasy managers need to get him back into their starting lineups in single-year formats. Segura has been out for two months after having surgery to fix a fractured right index finger. The 32-year-old should return to regular starting duties at second base. Gregorius got the axe after hitting only .210 with one homer in 214 at-bats. Rookie Bryson Stott should take over as the everyday shortstop now that Segura is back.
