2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) may miss the entire preseason. The 24-year-old is currently dealing with a hamstring issue, although he's forecasted to be ready for Week 1. He was the team's most productive back last season, finishing the year with 963 yards and five rushing touchdowns off 207 carries, so being without him wouldn't be ideal, especially with Trey Lance still developing. Nevertheless, if Mitchell can't suit up for the season opener, Kyle Shanahan may lean on Jeff Wilson Jr., Trey Sermon, and rookie Tyrion Davis-Price to collectively carry the load. The team's second-leading rusher during the 2021-22 campaign, Deebo Samuel, could also be utilized more than usual out of the backfield.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller
