J.D. Martinez Resting Friday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Baltimore Orioles. It appears that Martinez is just getting a normal day of rest. Make sure to remove him from your lineups. He could use it, as he's gone just 9-for-52 (.173) with no homers, six RBI and 19 strikeouts in 15 games so far this month to drop his season line to .273/.344/.429 with nine homers, 46 RBI and 57 runs scored in 442 plate appearances. Rob Refsnyder will serve as the designated hitter on Friday and bat seventh against Orioles right-hander Jordan Lyles. Refsnyder is hitting .309 in 94 at-bats for Boston this year, but he has very little pop (four homers) and is a low-upside DFS option.
