Gardner Minshew Posts Solid Numbers In Preseason Start
2 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles quarterback Gardner Minshew went 14-for-17 for 142 yards in Sunday's preseason win over the Cleveland Browns. The former Jacksonville Jaguars starter got the start as Jalen Hurts was given a rest during the Eagles' second preseason game. It was a fine showing, even if few starters played for either squad. Minshew led two methodical scoring drives, which both ended in rushing touchdowns, tallying 31 plays throughout the first offensive possessions. No other quarterback on the Eagles roster has flashed enough to keep Minshew's seat as the backup warm thus far. The former sixth-round pick will only carry fantasy value if Hurts misses time but is widely considered one of the league's top backups. With his contract up at the end of the season, Minshew will look to fight for a job as a potential bridge quarterback for a rebuilding roster in 2023.
