Dontrell Hilliard The Insurance Back For Derrick Henry
2 years agoTennessee Titans running back Dontrell Hilliard was signed midway through the 2021 season to fill in for starter Derrick Henry. The 27-year-old was also competing with D'Onta Foreman, leading to mostly average performances, with the exception of a massive game in Week 12 when he rushed the ball 12 times for 131 yards and one touchdown. Foreman left to sign with the Panthers, prompting the Titans to draft Hassan Haskins in the fourth round. Hilliard has been battling with the rookie during the preseason and emerged as the No. 2 option for the offense. Henry missed eight games last year with a Jones fracture, the most games missed in any season of his career. This may result in a lighter workload and more opportunity for the other members in this backfield. Hilliard is unlikely to be a player you can start in your fantasy football lineups each week, but he is well worth a pick as a handcuff for Henry late in deeper leagues.
