2 years agoNew York Mets catching prospect Francisco Alvarez (ankle), the top prospect in baseball per MLB Pipeline, has been diagnosed with a loose body in his right ankle, according to the team. The tentative plan is for Alvarez to resume baseball activities in three to four days. His return to play will be determined by his response to an injection and baseball activities. The good news is that it looks like he'll avoid surgery, at least for now. The 20-year-old hasn't played at Triple-A Syracuse since Aug. 23, but there's still a chance he can return for Syracuse before the end of the season. Fantasy managers in single-year leagues can pretty much abandon hope that he'll contribute down the stretch in the majors, especially since he's hit just .180 (20-for-111) with six homers and 21 RBI in 32 games for Syracuse since his promotion.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
