Anthony Rizzo Could Rejoin Team Wednesday
2 years agoNew York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) has been getting headaches after receiving an epidural injection for his injured back, but he is improving. Skipper Aaron Boone said that Rizzo might be able to rejoin the team on Wednesday. Rizzo had his epidural injection last Friday after dealing with back issues last week. The 33-year-old also visited with a specialist, but it appears that he's improving and could be back in the lineup this week. The Yankees are still hoping he'll avoid a trip to the injured list. In his absence, DJ LeMahieu has mostly been playing first base, but Marwin Gonzalez will man the cold corner on Monday against the Minnesota Twins and right-hander Chris Archer. Rizzo is hitting just .225 this year, but he also has a .339 on-base percentage, an .832 OPS, 30 home runs and 71 RBI.
