Mick Abel Hasn't Missed A Beat In Double-A
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Mick Abel made his third start for Double-A Reading on Sunday and didn't miss a beat. Over five innings, the right-hander allowed one hit, no runs, three walks and recorded eight strikeouts. One of the top pitching prospects in the game Abel was recently promoted to Double-A after spending the majority of the season in High-A. Between both levels, he has gone 8-9 with a 3.91 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 99 innings. The biggest knock on the big 6'5 starter has been his ability to produce command consistently, but the hope is that with more seasoning, Abel will be ready to anchor the Phillies rotation in a couple of seasons. With his ability to produce strikeouts at a high volume and his continuing development, Abel should be on the radar of dynasty league managers.
