Ty Montgomery Has A Shot To Play In Week 1
2 years agoNew England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said that running back Ty Montgomery (ankle), who is currently on Injured Reserve, "should have a shot" to play in the Week 1 regular season opener against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday. Montgomery suffered an ankle injury in the team's preseason finale, and could cause him to miss the beginning of the regular season or to be limited if he is active. With James White now retired, the 29-year-old Montgomery could see decent pass-catching work as an option on third down, although second-year back Rhamondre Stevenson has improved as a pass-catcher and is the better fantasy option. For now, Montgomery is just a bench stash in deep IDP leagues, and he won't be a recommended flex play if he's active on Sunday.
