Mitch Trubisky Named The Starter, Kenny Pickett The Backup
2 years agoPittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin officially named Mitch Trubisky the team's starting quarterback on Tuesday ahead of Sunday's Week 1 contest against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals. In other Steelers QB news on Tuesday, the team's updated depth chart now shows rookie first-rounder Kenny Pickett as the backup ahead of third-stringer Mason Rudolph. Trubisky was expected to be the team's starter entering the regular season all along, but he won't necessarily have a long leash early on if he struggles. The 28-year-old will be nothing more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues in his first year in Pittsburgh, while Pickett is an extremely attractive commodity in dynasty/keeper leagues.
