Anthony Rendon Could Return This Year
2 years agoLos Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon (wrist) was initially believed to be out for the year after he had right wrist surgery, but he's been fully participating in defensive drills, including throwing and hitting in the cages. There's now a chance that Rendon could return before the end of the regular season. It would allow him to serve his five-game suspension from his role in a fight with the Seattle Mariners in June. Head trainer Mike Frostad said Rendon is passing all of the tests so far. The 32-year-old has been a disappointment since signing a seven-year, $245 million deal with the Angels, and he's missed most of the season for the second time in three years. He's hit .228 with five home runs and a .707 OPS in 45 games this year, but he won't have enough time to help fantasy managers down the stretch if he does return.
